Practical Competency

Practical Competency Worksheet

Snapshot of practical competencies during workshop.
  • DD slash MM slash YYYY
  • PRACTICAL COMPETENCY

This form will be used to capture all the practical activities performed during the training workshop. Please read each section carefully and submit the relevant documents.
  • PART 1 | Calibration

This section will document your understanding of how to calibrate and why your spirometer might pass or fail a calibration. (YES this is still required even if you have already calibrated your machine today!!!)
  • Attach your calibration syringe to the spirometer and we will observe you perform a multi-flow calibration or a calibration check (verification). Please upload the PDF of this calibration below.
    Max. file size: 256 MB.
  • What is the % error range for the calibration?
  • Record any actions you would take if your device fails a calibration/verification. It is a good idea to have a list of these corrective actions in your procedures manual so that you can quickly refer to it when necessary.
  • PART 2 | Acceptability Criteria

This section is where you will measure your own spirometry using METHOD 1. Be ready to convince your course facilitator that you have met ACCEPTABILITY criteria 🙂
  • How many trials did it take for you to achieve acceptable data?
  • How does it compare to your acceptable results? Record which parameter/s are impacted by this error?
  • How does it compare to your acceptable results? Record which parameter/s are impacted by this error?
  • PART 3 | Repeatability Criteria

This section is where you will demonstrate an understanding of how to calculate repeatability.
  • eg. 3.35L & 3.42L Diff = 0.07L
  • eg. 3.35L & 3.42L Diff = 0.07L
  • PART 4 | Final Report

  • How does your spirometer make this selection?
